Twenty-four employees of DPR Emergencies Ministry killed since 2014 — minister

Rescue workers wore bullet proof vests when going to areas under fire and took part in mine clearance operations, Alexey Kostrubitsky said

DONETSK, October 24. /TASS/. As many as 24 employees of the Donetsk People’s Republic’s (DPR) Emergencies Ministry have been killed and 68 have suffered wounds since 2014, DPR Emergencies Minister Alexey Kostrubitsky said in an interview with TASS.

"Twenty-four employees were killed and 68 suffered wounds killed in the line of duty between 2014 and 2022. Our staff members had to learn a lot over this time and adapt to this situation. It’s not just about dealing with the aftermath of natural disasters. In combat conditions, they inevitably learned to do the things they did not need in peacetime. There are no more ‘special’ situations for them. Our mine rescue teams come to assist their colleagues under fire and they often have to help civilians on the scene of incidents," Kostrubitsky noted.

The minister added that rescue workers wore bullet proof vests when going to areas under fire and took part in mine clearance operations.
