VIENNA, May 17. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held a bilateral meeting with his Iranian colleague Javad Zarif in the Austrian capital on Tuesday.
Ahead of the consultations, the foreign ministers warmly greeted each other. Zarif asked Lavrov about his schedule. The Russian foreign minister said that he arrived in Vienna from Minsk, Belarus, on Monday. Lavrov also said that he held a meeting on Monday with US Secretary of State John Kerry in the run-up to Tuesday’s meeting of the International Syria Support Group (ISSG).
According to the Russian foreign minister, he has met representatives of the Syrian opposition and attended a meeting on Nagorno-Karabakh for which the Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Serzh Sargsyan and Ilkham Aliyev, arrived in Vienna.
An international meeting on Syria will start in Vienna soon. The meeting participants will substantively discuss the possible parameters of a political settlement.
