Russian authorities register external attempts to escalate ethnic relations in Russia

Russia’s Federal Agency for Ethnic Affairs situational center registered an intense activity of foreign centers on dissemination of fake information in Russia in a bid to escalate inter-ethnic relations and sow panic in the country on the day of the Crocus City Hall attack. The destructive activity of a number of sources keeps growing, says Anna Polezhayeva, Director of the Moscow House of Nationalities, an Agency subsidiary.

"During the terror attack days, the Agency situational center registered an intense activity of foreign centers of influence on dissemination of a knowingly distorted and fake information, aimed as escalation of ethnic tensions in Russia (by claiming responsibility of various ethnic groups), as well as creation of panic in the society," Polezhayeva told TASS.

"Most of the mentioned informational resources are well known to us, just like the forces that stand behind them and try to manipulate the public opinion. The destructive activity of a number of those keeps growing at this moment," she said.
