MOSCOW, October 8. /TASS/. Moscow has no plans for an armed conflict with Western Europe, and Russia poses no threat to anyone, Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a news briefing.
"If Germany’s top intelligence official publicly voices his own fantasies, it means that Europe is indeed in great danger. I will repeat this for the sake of clarity: Russia threatens no one. The Russian president and foreign minister have repeatedly stated that Moscow has no plans for an armed conflict with Western Europe," Zakharova said, commenting on remarks by the head of Germany’s foreign intelligence service.
"One could ask those who voice such things - or at least those who can explain what they mean - to clarify their position. How do they justify these fantasies of theirs? What do they cite as the goals, objectives, or reasons for the actions they fabricate and attribute to us?" she noted. "After all, there is a wealth of facts - often cited by the very people making these claims - indicating that it is they who are rapidly pursuing something akin to militarization - or, more accurately, a kind of militant frenzy. This involves not only expanding the military-industrial complex but also ideologically brainwashing their own populations to embrace Russophobia and the idea of 'inevitable conflict.' This is precisely what the Russian president has addressed in his repeated statements."
Zakharova pointed out that should such aggression originate from Western Europe or the EU, a response would follow. "As for the nature of that response, you need only re-read the president's relevant statement," she concluded.
