MOSCOW, February 28. /TASS/. Remarks by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan about Russia purportedly calling for a coup d’etat in the republic are absolutely unfounded, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a briefing.
"The grievances by Armenian prime minister that you mentioned are absolutely baseless," the diplomat said addressing a reporter. "Russian officials have never allowed for even a hint of calling for overthrowing legitimately elected authorities anywhere at all," she added.
The diplomat said that the Russian side is using the same approach "both with regard to the current authorities in Yerevan and the previous authorities in Yerevan and in general, with regard to any sovereign country." "A logical question emerges - those who are in power in Yerevan now, do they follow the same logic with regard to other countries or their own domestic political process? It seems to me that it’s a good idea to discuss the subject, we all remember recent history, something that happened a couple of years ago," the diplomat concluded.
Earlier, Pashinyan in an interview with France 24, claimed that in the fall of last year, Russian officials called to overthrow government authorities in Armenia.
