MOSCOW, February 20. /TASS/. Russia’s financial watchdog has added US Senator Lindsey Graham to its list of terrorists and extremists, the service's website reports.

Former environmental activist Yevgenia Chirikova (recognized as a foreign agent in Russia) has also been added to the register. She resides outside Russia.

Senator Graham, notorious for his anti-Russian stance, has repeatedly called for Russia to be added to the US list of countries sponsoring terrorism. He also proposed various options for toughening sanctions against Russia.

In May 2023, the Ukrainian side published a video showing Graham at a meeting with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky saying that "Russians dying" is "the best money the US has ever spent." Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov called the remarks "a disgrace to the United States," while Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said such death threats against Russians had long been standard practice in the United States." Reuters, which studied the full transcript of the meeting, remarked that the US senator's remarks might have been taken out of context. The Russian Foreign Ministry slammed such excuses as ridiculous and disgraceful.
