MOSCOW, December 29. /TASS/. The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) is obliged to make every effort to prevent possible attempts to interfere in Russia's presidential election in 2024, SVR Director Sergey Naryshkin said.
"An important political event - the Russian presidential election - will mark the year 2024. We are obliged to make every effort to deliberately prevent any possible attempts of external interference. Nothing should prevent the free expression of the Russian people's will," he said.
According to Naryshkin, 2023 was a time of "challenges and achievements" for Russia. "We are witnessing the formation of a fairer world based on good-neighborliness, equality, respect for the legitimate rights and interests of all nations. And our country plays a very important role in this process," the SVR director emphasized.
"The outgoing year was not an easy one, it made each of us stronger, more experienced and confident. Foreign Intelligence Service officers have once again proved their ability to hold their ground, to firmly overcome difficulties and obstacles. There is still a lot of work ahead," he added.
Russian presidential election will be held on March 15-17, 2024.
