MOSCOW, October 27. /TASS/. Russia is a great country, and the current international situation and Moscow's successful resistance to Western sanctions have proved it, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the Valdai Discussion Club plenary session on Thursday.

"We are a great country," the head of state stressed. According to him, Russia understands the medium-term negative consequences of the absence of Western technologies. "We were already being screwed over in terms of all critical technologies anyways," Putin pointed out.

The head of state drew attention to the spirituality of Russian citizens. "The slogan 'we do not abandon our own' is actually deep in the heart of every Russian and representatives of other Russian ethnic groups. Willingness to fight for one's own people leads to the community’s unity. This has always been a great strength of our country. We have confirmed and strengthened it, and this is the most important thing," the president added.
