Putin urges to more actively uncover foreign secret services in CIS

According to the Russian leader, it is also important to continue the coordinated systemic fight against terrorism

MOSCOW, October 26. /TASS/. The countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) should disclose and suppress activities of foreign intelligence services with the purpose of combatting interference in their domestic affairs more actively, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

"One of the priority tasks is to jointly counteract attempts to interfere in the internal affairs of the CIS countries. We know with you what this is. To do this, to counter this, it is necessary to more actively uncover and suppress the work of foreign intelligence services aimed at destabilizing the situation in each CIS member state," he pointed out on Wednesday at a meeting with with the heads of the delegations of the 51st Council of Heads of National Security Enforcement Agencies and Special Services of the CIS.

According to Putin, it is also important to continue the coordinated systemic fight against terrorism. "There has been a positive trend in this area recently. For example, the number of terrorist crimes, including terrorist attacks, has decreased in almost all Commonwealth countries," he noted.
