Official reports futile Ukrainian attempts to break through defense toward Kherson

Kirill Stremousov emphasized that Russia would not cede the Kherson Region

KHERSON, October 26. /TASS/. Russian forces have been suppressing the Ukrainian push toward Kherson, Kirill Stremousov, deputy governor of the Kherson Region, said on Wednesday.

"As of October 26, 2022, things have not changed near Kherson. <...> Continued [Ukrainian] counterattacks by scarce groups are being repelled," he wrote on his Telegram channel.

Stremousov said with confidence that Russia would not cede the Kherson Region.

On October 5, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed decrees to ratify treaties on the accession of the Donetsk and the Lugansk People’s Republics as well as the Zaporozhye and the Kherson Regions to Russia. The country now has 89 constituent members. The four new regions joined Russia after referendums were held there from September 23 to September 27.
