Impossible to discuss global issues without understanding Russia, Kremlin spokesman says

MOSCOW, October 25. /TASS/. It is impossible to discuss global issues without understanding Russia’s position, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Tuesday.

"It is currently impossible to discuss global issues without understanding Russia. If it is done indiscriminately, without using expert knowledge of Russia, it cannot be considered to be professional discussion," he said.

According to Peskov, the Valdai International Discussion Club is an example of a solid expert platform. "Serious people gather here, seeking to figure out what’s going on," he noted.

The Russian presidential spokesman pointed out that the club’s activities particularly involved former Sovietologists and experts on Russia. When speaking about why Western members remained in the club despite their countries’ attitude towards Russia, Peskov said: "Clearly, it is because the Valdai Club is a unique platform that was created many years ago in order to freely discuss Russia without any stereotypes, together with those who professionally study Russia, who want to find the truth, who can express different views and prefer to get first-hand information," the Kremlin spokesman stressed.
