Law enforcement agenices foil terrorist plot against Mariupol city administration

The detainee, having received 50,000 hryvnia, worked on committing a terrorist act in the Mariupol administration building

DONETSK, October 20. /TASS/. The Donetsk People’s Republic’s law enforcement agencies and the Russian Interior Ministry detained in Mariupol a suspect who was involved in preparing an act of terrorism in the city administration building, an improvised explosive device was found, the region's State Security Ministry said on Thursday.

"The State Security Ministry, together with the DPR People's Militia and the Russian Interior Ministry, detained a resident of the village of Kamensk in Mariupol’s Ilyichevsk district. <...> During the interrogation, the detainee reported that in February 2022 he was involved in confidential cooperation with a Ukrainian Security Service officer Sergey. The detainee, having received 50,000 hryvnia (almost $1,352), worked on committing a terrorist act in the Mariupol administration building," the DPR territorial defense headquarters quoted a State Security Ministry representative as saying in a video posted on its Telegram channel.

The State Security Ministry explained to TASS that the operational services worked proactively and prevented an act of terrorism. When examining the detainee’s home, law enforcement agencies found an improvised explosive device. A criminal case was initiated against the detainee under the DPR Criminal Code article ‘Terrorist act’.
