Western weapons cause heavier casualties in Donbass — DPR militia’s officer

Andrey Bayevsky explained that the shells supplied by the West were designed to inflict severe injuries

MOSCOW, October 18. /TASS/. Rocket and cannon artillery systems, which Ukraine have received from the Western countries, lead to a greater number of civilian casualties in Donbass cities, although shellings as such are fewer, an officer of the DPR people's militia, said on Tuesday.

"Currently the shellings are carried out mainly with Western rocket systems and Western shells, delivered as part of so-called support for the regime in Kiev. Such shells leave less chances for our civilians to survive. Although the total number of shellings is down, the casualties they cause are heavier," Bayevsky he said on Russia’s TV Channel One.

He explained that the shells supplied by the West were designed to inflict severe injuries. Saving the lives of the patients they is far harder.

"Heavier projectiles, a larger amount of explosives, and bigger fragments leave less chances for people in our cities and communities to survive an artillery barrage," he explained.
