Russian air defenses shoot down six HIMARS rockets over Kakhovka hydro power plant

It is reported that Kherson Region Deputy Governor Kirill Stremousov earlier said that the hydro power plant’s protection had been enhanced against potential provocations by the Ukrainian military

KHERSON, October 18. /TASS/. The Ukrainian military fired six HIMARS rockets against the Kakhovka hydro power plant in the Kherson Region overnight to Tuesday, with all the munitions shot down by Russian air defenses, the regional emergency services reported on Tuesday.

"At about 2 a.m. at night, the Ukrainian military tried to shell the Kakhovka HPP, firing six HIMARS rockets. Air defense units shot down all the rockets," the emergency services said.

Kherson Region Deputy Governor Kirill Stremousov earlier told TASS that the hydro power plant’s protection had been enhanced against potential provocations by the Ukrainian military.

The Kakhovka HPP is part of a cascade of Dnieper hydro power plants and is located 5 km from the town of Novaya Kakhovka in the Kherson Region.
