Russian deputy minister met with UN officials for talks on grain, other issues — MFA

Griffiths is also slated to hold meetings at the Russian Defense Ministry, a source told TASS earlier

MOSCOW, October 16. /TASS/. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin met with UN Under-Secretary-General Martin Griffiths and Secretary-General of UN Conference on Trade and Development Rebecca Grynspan to discuss the grain deal and some other pressing issues on Sunday, the Foreign Ministry told TASS on Sunday.

Griffiths is also slated to hold meetings at the Russian Defense Ministry, a source told TASS earlier.

The Black Sea grain deal to export Ukrainian grain was concluded on July 22 to last 120 days, so it expires in the second half of November. The UN has repeatedly indicated that it supports extending the grain deal. The second part of the deal - a memorandum of understanding between the Russian Defense Ministry and the UN on facilitating the export of food and fertilizers from Russia - was concluded for three years.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly said the grain agreement has drawbacks.
