Many Kupyansk residents want Kharkov region to join Russia — refugee

Many people who live in the Kharkov region’s Kupyansk support the Russian authorities, they want the region to become Russian subject, Sergey, a resident of Kupyansk, who was admitted to the Lugansk Republican Clinical Hospital after being wounded as a result of Ukrainian shelling of the town, told TASS on Tuesday.

"Basically, a lot of people in the city want to join the Russian Federation," he said. According to Sergey, supporters of the Ukrainian government living in Kupyansk "surrender" to the Ukrainian forces people "who support the Russian Federation." "I've been in many places in the region, I know such people who are for this government, for the Bandera government (the current Ukrainian government - TASS), they turn over to the Ukrainian armed forces those who support Russia," the resident of Kupyansk said.

Earlier, the head of the Russian Investigative Committee, Aleksandr Bastrykin, instructed to open a criminal case over the torture and killing of civilians in Kupyansk. The press service of the Russian Investigative Committee told reporters that the former commander of the Azov national battalion (outlawed in Russia as it is recognized as a terrorist organization) published a video with the bodies of murdered civilians with their hands tied, claiming that the Russian servicemen were involved in their murder. However, the frame-up indicates that the video was shot recently, that is during the period when the settlement was under the Ukrainian control. The internal parameters of the video also prove that it was shot during the day on October 9.
