Russia calls on Baku, Yerevan to carefully study video showing execution of troops — MFA

Maria Zakharova emphasized that Moscow continued to make "serious efforts to improve the situation in the region" and normalize relations between Baku and Yerevan

MOSCOW, October 3. /TASS/. Moscow calls on Azerbaijan and Armenia to immediately undertake a comprehensive analysis of video footage showing servicemen being shot, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in a statement on Monday.

"The video footage abounds in scenes of extreme brutality. All violations of international humanitarian law should be carefully investigated. We urge the Azerbaijani and Armenian authorities to immediately undertake a comprehensive in-depth analysis of the videos, particularly to figure out if there are any signs of war crimes. In case these facts are confirmed, all those responsible should be called to account and face the full force of the law," the Russian diplomat noted.

Zakharova emphasized that Moscow continued to make "serious efforts to improve the situation in the region" and normalize relations between Baku and Yerevan. "We believe that there is no alternative to peace. We are ready to provide the necessary assistance to the two sides," she added.

A video posted on Armenian social media earlier allegedly shows Azerbaijani service members shooting a group of captured Armenian troops.
