Lavrov slams US for hypocritically overlooking its invasions of other countries

It is pointed out that Washington has never been embarrassed about using force "under far-fetched pretexts" in any part of the globe

MOSCOW, October 3. /TASS/. The United States fails to take note of its use of military force around the world, hypocritically accusing Russia of an allegedly unprovoked attack on Ukraine, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a plenary session of the State Duma (the lower house of parliament) on Monday.

"When accusing Russia of an unprovoked aggression against Ukraine, the US hypocritically says that we are allegedly citing an imaginary threat to justify an attack on a neighboring country, which supposedly took the path of democracy," the Russian top diplomat noted.

He pointed out that Washington has never been embarrassed about using force "under far-fetched pretexts" in any part of the globe, citing the need to protect the life and well-being of American citizens in order to justify its actions.

Lavrov mentioned US invasions of Haiti and the Dominican Republic, its occupation of Panama, the wars in Vietnam, Yugoslavia, Iraq and Libya. "The Americans simply ignored the UN General Assembly resolutions that condemned these and other aggressive actions by the US, turning a deaf ear to them," the Russian foreign minister stressed.
