Crimea has enough air defenses to protect peninsula, its leader vows

The entire Crimean territory is protected, Sergey Aksyonov underscored

SIMFEROPOL, June 20. /TASS/. Crimea has enough air defenses to have the entire peninsula, including the Crimean Bridge, protected, the region’s head, Sergey Aksyonov, said on Monday following Ukraine’s attack on Black Sea gas rigs.

"The [Chernomorneftegaz gas production] facilities lie off Crimea, within Russian borders, but these are offshore facilities. The entire [Crimean] territory is protected, I keep in touch with Defense Ministry officials and colleagues in the Southern military district on a daily basis, and I am also informed about the situation around the Crimean Bridge. There are more than enough air defenses there," Aksyonov said.

Earlier on Monday, the Crimean leader said a Ukrainian attack on Chernomorneftegaz drilling rigs in the Black Sea had left several people wounded.
