Zaporozhye authorities nationalize Ukraine’s local state-run companies, grain reserves

The regional authorities have only nationalized all state facilities, not farmers’ and other private property, head of the region’s military-civilian administration Yevgeny Balitsky stressed

SIMFEROPOL, June 15. /TASS/. Authorities in the Zaporozhye Region have nationalized Ukraine’s state-run enterprises and grain reserves, the head of the region’s military-civilian administration, Yevgeny Balitsky, said on the Solovyov Live TV channel on Wednesday.

The regional authorities have only nationalized all state facilities, not farmers’ and other private property, Balitsky stressed. All state-owned facilities now belong to the Zaporozhye Region, he said. "We cannot abandon a whole number of facilities like thermal power plants, railroads, motor roads, factories," Balitsky said.

The region also had reserves of grain the Ukrainian government had purchased from farmers, he added denying further details.

Russian President Vladimir Putin recognized the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics on February 21. On February 24, Putin announced a special operation in Ukraine following a request from the republics’ leaders. Zaporozhye is now partially controlled by Russian troops.
