ARKHAGELSK, March 26. /TASS/. The Arkhangelsk Region will organize the second advance-development territory (TOR) in Novodvinsk, a mono-industrial city, which is located in the Russian Arctic zone, the region’s Minister of Economic Development Semen Vuimenov told TASS.
"The application contains six promising investment projects, where the investments will exceed 1 billion rubles ($17.5 million), and - most importantly - we shall have more than 100 new jobs," he said. "It would be a breakthrough in the work to diversify Novodvinsk’s economy."
The Sozvezdiye association of oil and gas industry suppliers has initiated building in the city of a mini plant to liquefy natural gas. "The problem of liquefied natural gas is highly important now: quite soon black oil and heavy fuel would be outlawed, while liquefied gas is easy to transport - it is very compact," the association’s head Sergei Smirnov said. "We shall focus on facilities in the Arkhangelsk Region - municipal facilities, small industrial facilities."
Another project in Novodvinsk is a plant, which will produce led and energy-saving equipment. Besides, the city’s new plant will produce cement-bonded wood fiber.
Novodvinsk’s only industrial facility is the Arkhangelsk wood and pulp plant. In region’s seven mono-industrial cities live almost 300,000 - practically every forth resident in the region. A TOR is established in Onega.
