KIEV, July 22. /TASS/. The European Union (EU) has transferred the first €600 million tranche of macroeconomic financial assistance program worth the total of €1.8 billion, press service of the EU representative office in Ukraine said Wednesday.
The program is aimed at supporting economic stability in Ukraine, the report said.
On Tuesday, EU Ambassador to Kiev Jan Tombinski said the EU will continue providing technical and advisory assistance to Ukraine on its way to reforms.
The Ukrainian parliament, the Verkhovna Rada, passed a law on June 18 on ratifying the Memorandum of Mutual Understanding between Ukraine as the borrower and the European Union as the creditor and the Loan Agreement between Ukraine as the borrower, the Ukrainian National Bank as the borrower’s financial agent and the European Union as the creditor (on the EU’s financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of up to €1.8 billion).
