GDP of the Eurasian Economic Union gain 4.2% in 2024 — Russian Deputy PM

"The mutual EAEU trade was 24% higher in average on account of these measures," Alexey Overchuk added

MOSCOW, March 28. /TASS/. The gross domestic product (GDP) of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) increased by 4.2% in 2024, while growth was just 0.8% in the European Union, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk said.

"The GDP of the EAEU increased by 4.2% in 2024. For example, the like indicator of the EU, according to preliminary estimates, was just 0.8%. The experience of the EAEU can also be a good backing to build up the space of welfare and prosperity in Eurasia," Overchuk said.

"Specifically, elimination of non-tariff barriers in the EAEU on account of the transition to unified compulsory requirements to EAEU goods (common SPS requirements, common technical regulations) and elimination of customs control provided a steady annual increment to EAEU GDP growth rates amounting to $14.5 bln in within the period of 2015-2023. The mutual EAEU trade was 24% higher in average on account of these measures," the deputy prime minister added.
