MOSCOW, December 13. /TASS/. The combined GDP of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) countries grew by more than 4.5% in the first three quarters of 2024, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at the opening of a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council.
"In the first three quarters, the GDP growth of the Eurasian Economic Union exceeded 4.5%. Industrial production grew by about the same amount, retail sales - by around 8%, and passenger transportation - by around 7.5%," Mishustin said.
In his opinion, by coordinating their efforts, the EAEU countries are capable of achieving even greater results, especially in such a priority area as the Union's technological sovereignty.
"We have set up a supranational mechanism for subsidizing joint projects from the Union budget. It is already beginning to work. We need to improve the dissemination of information to businesses about the conditions and advantages of this measure, so that companies clearly understand that they can count on real support and become more actively involved in the creation of advanced production facilities," Mishustin said, adding that this will increase existing capacities, trade volumes, mutual investments, and exports of products manufactured in the Union.
Mishustin also recalled the goal of the joint implementation of the comprehensive plan for the development of Eurasian transport corridors. "It is necessary to consistently introduce modern solutions in the logistics industry in order to increase the capacity of existing routes and, accordingly, the volume of passenger and cargo flows," the Prime Minister concluded.
