Russian Railways will ensure further maintenance of Sapsan, Lastochka high-speed trains

Earlier, Germany’s Siemens announced that it would leave the Russian market amid the events in Ukraine, and from May 13, the company will cease maintenance of Russian Railways trains

MOSCOW, May 12. /TASS/. Technical maintenance of Sapsan and Lastochka high-speed trains will continue under the control of Russian Railways in compliance with the national legislation, the press service of the Russian Railways reported.

"Maintenance of the Sapsan and Lastochka trains will be continued in the framework of the current Russian legislation under the guidance and control of the Russian Railways holding," the statement says.

Earlier, Germany’s Siemens announced that it would leave the Russian market amid the events in Ukraine. From May 13, Siemens will cease maintenance of Russian Railways trains. The company will also withdraw from joint ventures.

The decision to leave the Russian market does not apply to the medical device company Siemens Healthineers AG. The Siemens Finance leasing company will continue to work in Russia, but plans to change the owner.
