Ukrainian army, foreign mercenaries occupying apartments in Zaporozhye, says official

According to Vladimir Rogov, there are plans to liberate Zaporozhye, but the key thing is to keep people alive, since the majority of the population are still staying in the city

MOSCOW, October 26. /TASS/. The commanders of Ukrainian military units have been accommodating troops and foreign mercenaries alongside civilians in residential blocks in the city of Zaporozhye, Vladimir Rogov, who chairs the We Are Together with Russia movement, said on Wednesday.

"They have been using the so-called puff pastry tactics as is registered in their special manuals. The idea is to accommodate civilians by their side or to settle in near civilians. <...> Plus, they have been occupying apartments on the second and third floors rather than on the upper floors, with groups of five to 20 people moving in," Rogov told Komsomolskaya Pravda radio.

There are lots of foreigners among those arriving in the city, Rogov added. "Today, Zaporozhye is effectively the capital of foreign mercenaries," he said.

According to Rogov, there are plans to liberate Zaporozhye, but the key thing is to keep people alive, since the majority of the population are still staying in the city. "We cannot raze the city," he concluded.

So far, about 70% of the Zaporozhye Region has been liberated. Rogov said earlier that Ukrainian troops had concentrated a substantial force near Zaporozhye, with mercenaries from more than 30 countries currently present in the city.
