MOSCOW, October 16. /TASS/. Vladimir Rogov, chairman of the We Are Together with Russia civil society group, on Sunday said Ukrainian troops are preparing a new attempt to capture the Zaporozhye NPP by assaulting it from several sides.
"The threat is real because we see that at least 450 militants of the Special Operations Forces of the armed forces of Ukraine are engaged in training to cross the Dnieper," he told TASS. "The change of tactics for the capture of the nuclear power plant, for crossing the Dnieper, is that now, in addition to one area, Zaporozhye, or the east and northeast, assault groups are massing up, shaping up and preparing for the capture in the areas that are to the west, northwest and southwest of Energodar".
Rogov said that the assault groups are working on coordination in the settlements of Zolotaya Balka and Osokorovka in the Kherson Region and Pokrovskoye in the Dnipropetrovsk Region.
The ZNPP in Energodar has repeatedly been the target for Ukrainian strikes that used artillery and drones, among other things. As a result of damage dealt to some of the infrastructure facilities around the plant, all of its six reactors have been shut down.
Russian President Vladimir Putin on October 5 signed a decree to make Zaporozhye NPP nuclear facilities Russian federal property. He ordered establishment of a federal enterprise called Zaporozhskaya NPP, which will take over the plant’s assets.
