Erdogan says he expects to discuss NATO summit’s outcome with Putin in few days

ANKARA, March 25. /TASS/. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said he expected to hold telephone talks with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to discuss the outcome of the NATO summit.

"Today I will have talks with [Ukrainian President Vladimir] Zelensky. Perhaps I will have talks with Putin again this weekend or at the beginning of the next week. At these talks we have to discuss and evaluate the NATO talks. We have to tell them, 'Now you have to be the ones who will take measures to establish peace,'" the Hurriyet newspaper quoted Erdogan as saying on Friday.

NATO held an extraordinary summit in Brussels on Thursday. The alliance heard a speech by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky by a video link and discussed giving Ukraine more weapons.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation in response to a request from the heads of the Donbass republics. The Russian leader stressed that Moscow had no plans to occupy Ukrainian territories and the goal was to demilitarize and denazify the country.
