No formal requests for return of children received from Ukraine — Russian commissioner

Lvova-Belova pointed out that to date, 16 Ukrainian children are staying in children’s health camps in Crimea and the Krasnodar Region

MOSCOW, April 5. /TASS/. No official requests for the return of Ukrainian children have been received from the Ukrainian authorities, Russian Commissioner for Children’s Rights Maria Lvova-Belova said on the Rossiya-24 TV news channel on Wednesday.

"Everybody (on social networks - TASS) is speaking about various lists. Everybody demands that parents and children be reunited, and in fact, it happened today at the United Nations as well," she said. "However, we do not see a single fact or a single document of the Ukrainian side, except the statements released on social networks and in the media by the country’s leadership."

Lvova-Belova pointed out that to date, 16 Ukrainian children are staying in children’s health camps in Crimea and the Krasnodar Region.

"Parents of some of those children are in the European Union now. We have submitted the information to the International [Committee] of the Red Cross, and we do very much hope for their assistance in reuniting [the families]," Lvova-Belova said.

Earlier, a bulletin on activities of the commissioner for children's rights under the president of the Russian Federation said that the Ukrainian authorities act against the interests of children, as they do not evacuate them from the war zone, use them as human shields, and also persecute Russian families that have taken children from Donbass into custody.
