Prison officers who thwarted escape in Kabardino-Balkaria to be nominated for awards

The Federal Penitentiary Service also warned against spreading false information following the incident

MOSCOW, October 3. /TASS/. Russian Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN) officers showed courage in the line of duty during an emergency in a prison transport train car in Kabardino-Balkaria, Russia’s North Caucasus, and prevented a prisoner from escaping; they will be nominated for state awards, one of them posthumously, the FSIN press service said.

"Officers of the Federal Penitentiary Service’s Stavropol Region Directorate who showed courage in the line of duty during the emergency at Murtazovo station, prevented an escape from custody and contained the situation in the special-purpose railcar will be nominated for Russian state awards, one of them posthumously," the statement said.

The Federal Penitentiary Service also warned against spreading false information following the incident.

"The dissemination of false information is unacceptable and contrary to current law," FSIN said.

The service urged people to act responsibly when publishing information, verify its accuracy and trust only official sources.
