MOSCOW, March 7. /TASS/. Russian combat aircraft shot down a Ukrainian Air Force Su-24 frontline bomber over the past day during the special military operation in Ukraine, Defense Ministry Spokesman Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov reported on Tuesday.
"Aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces shot down a Ukrainian Air Force Su-24 plane near the settlement of Druzhkovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic," the spokesman said.
Kupyansk direction
Russian forces eliminated over 30 Ukrainian troops and a Polish-made Krab self-propelled howitzer in the Kupyansk area over the past day, Konashenkov reported.
"In the Kupyansk direction, army aviation and artillery of the western battlegroup struck the enemy’s manpower and equipment in areas near the settlements of Gryanikovka, Peschanoye and Krakhmalnoye in the Kharkov Region, Stelmakhovka and Rozovka in the Lugansk People’s Republic," the spokesman said.
The strikes eliminated one Ukrainian tank, a Polish-made Krab self-propelled artillery system, an Akatsiya self-propelled howitzer, and also 30 Ukrainian personnel," the general specified.
Krasny Liman direction
The Ukrainian military suffered 125 casualties in the Krasny Liman area over the past day as a result of damage inflicted by Russian troops, Konashenkov reported.
"In the Krasny Liman direction, artillery of the battlegroup Center and aircraft inflicted damage on the enemy’s units," the spokesman said.
The strikes eliminated "as many as 125 Ukrainian troops, two infantry fighting vehicles, three armored combat vehicles and also D-20 and D-30 howitzers," the general specified.
Donetsk direction
Russian forces eliminated over 75 Ukrainian troops in their advance in the Donetsk area over the past day, Konashenkov reported.
"In the Donetsk direction, over 75 Ukrainian personnel, two tanks, three armored combat vehicles, two pickup trucks, a Smerch multiple launch rocket system and a D-30 howitzer were destroyed as a result of active operations by units of the southern battlegroup," the spokesman said.
In addition, a US-made AN/TPQ-37 counter-battery radar was obliterated near the settlement of Markovo in the Donetsk People’s Republic, the general added.
"In the area of the settlement of Avdeyevka in the Donetsk People’s Republic, an ammunition depot of the Ukrainian army’s 110th mechanized brigade was wiped out," Konashenkov reported.
Southern Donetsk, Zaporozhye directions
Russian forces eliminated over 60 Ukrainian troops, an M109 Paladin self-propelled artillery gun and an M777 artillery system in the southern Donetsk and Zaporozhye areas over the past day, he said.
Operational/tactical and army aviation and artillery of the battlegroup East inflicted damage by combined firepower on the Ukrainian army units in areas near the settlements of Ugledar, Pavlovka and Novosyolka in the Donetsk People’s Republic, Dorozhnyanka and Malaya Tokmachka in the Zaporozhye Region in the southern Donetsk and Zaporozhye directions in the past 24 hours, the spokesman said.
"The enemy’s losses in those directions in the past 24 hours totaled over 60 Ukrainian troops, two armored combat vehicles, two pickup trucks, a US-made M109 Paladin self-propelled artillery system, a US-made M777 artillery gun and also a D-30 howitzer," Konashenkov reported.
Kherson direction
Russian forces destroyed about 35 Ukrainian troops and two D-30 howitzers in the Kherson area over the past day, he said.
"In the Kherson direction, as many as 35 Ukrainian troops, four motor vehicles and also two D-30 howitzers were eliminated in the past 24 hours as a result of damage inflicted on the enemy by firepower," the spokesman said.
Over 70 Ukrainian artillery units struck in past day
Russian forces struck over 70 Ukrainian artillery units in the past day, Konashenkov reported.
"Operational/tactical and army aviation, missile troops and artillery of the Russian group of forces struck 74 Ukrainian artillery units at firing positions, manpower and equipment in 128 areas in the past day," the spokesman said.
Russian air defenses down Ukrainian Su-25 attack plane
Russian air defense forces shot down a Ukrainian Su-25 ground attack plane and destroyed 11 unmanned aerial vehicles over the past day, Konashenkov reported.
"Air defense capabilities shot down a Ukrainian Air Force Su-25 plane near the community of Krynki in the Kherson Region. In addition, in the past 24 hours, they intercepted 12 rockets of the HIMARS multiple launch rocket system and destroyed 11 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles near the settlements of Chervonopopovka and Novosyolovskoye in the Lugansk People’s Republic, Peski, Kirillovka, Valeryanovka, Gorlovka, Makeyevka and Novoandreyevka in the Donetsk People’s Republic, Mirnoye in the Zaporozhye Region, Gorobyovka and Tabayevka in the Kharkov Region," the spokesman said.
In all, the Russian Armed Forces have destroyed 398 Ukrainian combat aircraft, 217 helicopters, 3,356 unmanned aerial vehicles, 410 surface-to-air missile systems, 8,205 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,055 multiple rocket launchers, 4,294 field artillery guns and mortars and 8,780 special military motor vehicles since the beginning of the special military operation in Ukraine, Konashenkov reported.
