ST. PETERSBURG, February 12. /TASS/. Handling of mineral fertilizers at three terminals of Global Ports (part of Delo Group) rose by 33% in 2024 to 3.72 mln tons, the stevedoring holding said in a statement.
"Global Ports, Russia’s leading operator of marine container terminals, handled 3.72 million tons of mineral fertilizers at its North-West terminals in 2024. This is 33% higher than the 2023 result of 2.8 million tons. The entire volume was handled using container technology," the statement reads.
Fertilizer handling was carried out at three terminals of the company in the Baltic basin. In addition to Petrolesport and First Container Terminal (both of which are located in the Big Port of St. Petersburg), Ust-Luga Container Terminal started handling in 2024, the holding said.
Global Ports established its own fleet of 4,000 twenty-foot specialized containers for handling fertilizers using container technology against the backdrop of growing demand from the chemical industry in 2023, which allowed launching a new integrated service for the transport, storage and handling of bulk cargoes.
