Chinese army strenghtens dialogue with Russia, US, EU in 2025 — top brass

BEIJING, December 25. /TASS/. In 2025, China’s People's Liberation Army (PLA) strengthened its strategic dialogue with Russia, the US, and the EU, Defense Ministry Spokesman Zhang Xiaogang said.

"This year, [China's] military diplomacy remained closely linked to overall state and party priorities and was conducted in accordance with the strategic guidelines of the top leadership. The focus was on combat readiness," he told reporters. "First, we have strengthened strategic cooperation with Russia, the US, and Europe," the defense official pointed out.

Zhang Xiaogang recalled that in 2025, a delegation from the Chinese Central Military Commission visited Russia. He mentioned important events such as the June meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization's defense ministers in Qingdao in eastern China, and joint naval drills between the Chinese and Russian armed forces and their strategic air patrols.

According to the spokesman, during these exercises, the PLA took an active role and made efforts to "open new horizons" in cooperation.
