BAKU, November 27. /TASS/. Russia and Azerbaijan will increase their mutual trade turnover to $5 bln this year, Russian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mikhail Yevdokimov said.
"We have very close ties with Azerbaijan, very active cooperation. <...> This year, we will probably reach a symbolic figure of $5 bln in trade turnover. For some sides, this may not be a very large figure. However, we believe it indicates very solid mutual growth in trade between our countries," he said at a roundtable.
The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) is becoming an increasingly attractive economic integration bloc, the diplomat noted. "It is very important that we have a very positive dialogue with Azerbaijan. Not only is bilateral trade between Russia and Azerbaijan growing successfully, but Azerbaijan's trade with other EAEU countries is also on the rise," he said.
As per Azerbaijan’s state customs service, trade turnover with Russia amounted to $4.152 bln from January to October of this year, which is an increase of 5.3% compared to the same period last year. In 2024, trade turnover between the two countries reached $4.799 bln.
