MOSCOW, March 5. /TASS/. A Su-27 fighter of Russia’s Aerospace Forces has escorted an AWACS aircraft and two fighters of the French Air Force over the Black Sea, preventing them from violating the Russian state border, the Defense Ministry has said.
On Tuesday, Russian airspace control means detected three air targets over the Black Sea flying towards the Russian state border.
To prevent a violation of the state border a Sukhoi-27 fighter jet on duty was scrambled. The Russian fighter’s crew identified the air targets as an E-3F AWACS plane and two Rafale C multirole fighters of the French Air Force. As the Russian fighter approached, the foreign military aircraft made a U-turn way from Russia’s state border and left the airspace over the Black Sea," the Defense Ministry said.
The Russian fighter jet carried out the flight in strict compliance with international rules of using airspace over international waters without crossing air routes or committing a dangerous rapprochement with foreign aircraft.
