Russia’s updated Foreign Policy Concept does not contain Ukraine-related paragraph

MOSCOW, March 31. /TASS/. Russia’s updated Foreign Policy Concept approved by President Vladimir Putin on Friday does not contain a separate paragraph dedicated to Ukraine.

There is only a brief reference to Ukraine in relation to the West’s anti-Russian policies. In addition, the term "Anglo-Saxon states" was introduced with regard to Russia’s relations with the US and some other unfriendly countries.

The previous version of the Foreign Policy Concept, approved in 2016, contained a paragraph on Ukraine, which said that Russia was interested in boosting the entire range of political, economic, cultural and spiritual ties with Ukraine based on mutual trust, as well as in building partnership in compliance with its national interests.

Back then, the conflict was described as "intra-Ukrainian," and Russia expressed willingness to facilitate efforts to resolve it through political and diplomatic means.

It took several years to update the concept, which now is 42 pages long and consists of six sections and 76 paragraphs.
