EgyptAir cancels flights to Moscow until March 10 due to European flight insurance issues

At present, every effort is being made to find a solution to the problem and resume flights as soon as possible

CAIRO, March 4. /TASS/. Egyptian national carrier Egyptian Air has canceled all flights to Moscow until March 10 due to problems with European flight insurance, an official with the airline told TASS on Friday.

"EgyptAir flights to Moscow have been temporarily canceled - approximately until March 10 - due to the need to re-negotiate insurance contracts, as well as the refusal of some European parties to insure flights to and from Moscow amid the events around Ukraine and European sanctions against the Russian Federation," the official explained.

"At present, every effort is being made to find a solution to the problem and resume flights as soon as possible," the official added.

The airline’s representative noted that in case of a positive outcome, flights can be restored even before March 10, but there is also a possibility that the suspension may continue after this date. The airline had to cancel flights to the Russian capital earlier this week as well.

Meanwhile, Aeroflot operates flights to Cairo and back in compliance with the schedule.
