The liberation of the Kurdyumovka community in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) will provide the allied forces with full control over a key highway connecting the cities of Gorlovka and Artyomovsk, Gorlovka Mayor Ivan Prikhodko told the Rossiya-24 TV channel on Wednesday.

"Major news broke that Kurdyumovka, where the fighting there had lasted for over five days, was taken this morning. It is one of the crucial locations, along with Kodema, which was taken two months ago," he pointed out.

"The second thing is that it guarantees full control of the Gorlovka-Artyomovsk highway, so this is why it’s a strategically important place," Prikhodko added.
