Israeli defense minister approves plan for operation to take Gaza City — state broadcaster

TEL AVIV, August 20. /TASS/. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has authorized a plan for the capture of Gaza City, with the operation being given the codename Gideon’s Chariots-2, the Israeli state broadcaster Kan reported.

"Following the operation, Gaza City will change its landscape and will no longer look as it used to," Katz stated as quoted by the state broadcaster.

According to Kan, an announcement concerning the additional mobilization of reservists for the Israel Defense Forces is expected soon.

The Times of Israel reported that conscription notices are expected to be sent to sixty thousand reservists in the coming days, with the conscripts being granted a period of no less than two weeks to assemble. That said, "should the Gaza City offensive go ahead", 130,000 Israelis are "set to be in reserves during the operation," the publication noted.
