MOSCOW, October 26. /TASS/. Russian and Ethiopian officials are in talks on increasing flight frequencies, Russian Ambassador to Ethiopia Evgeny Terekhin told TASS in an interview ahead of the Russia-Africa Summit.
"Expanding flight frequencies and launching services by Russian airlines remain on the agenda of discussions between the two countries’ aviation authorities and depend on commercial passenger demand," the diplomat said.
He pointed out that "Bole International Airport in Addis Ababa serves as a key aviation hub for travel to Africa." "Ethiopian Airlines operates six direct flights a week between Addis Ababa and Moscow," Terekhin noted.
In his view, "the construction of a new transcontinental airport in Bishoftu, 40 km from the capital, designed to handle 100 mln passengers annually, will be a significant factor in improving the region’s transport accessibility."
