MOSCOW, October 24. /TASS/. Residents in Alyoshki are waiting for the humanitarian passageway agreement to come into force, but the situation on the ground has not changed so far, the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Ambassador-at-Large Rodion Miroshnik told Zvezda TV channel in a comment.
"I can cite only the information that we receive from locals, and the administration of the Alyoshki District. From 7:15 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. today, there was a mortar shelling at the town of Alyoshki. This shows that the situation on the ground has not changed, at least by now," the diplomat noted. "Also, roads were mined last night. New mines that still block both driveways in the town of Alyoshki were discovered. That is, people are waiting for the agreement to establish a humanitarian corridor to be implemented, but no changes on the ground have yet taken place," he added.
On Alyoshki agreement
Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Army Valery Gerasimov announced earlier that Russian forces will enforce a localized ceasefire in the Kherson direction at 4:00 a.m. Moscow time (1:00 a.m. GMT) on October 27 to allow for a humanitarian operation near Alyoshki.
On Friday, the White House broke the news about a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine in Alyoshki. The localized ceasefire will come into effect on October 29. The sides agreed to cease hostilities in Alyoshki to "allow for humanitarian aid to enter and to prepare a civilian evacuation through a designated safe passageway," the White House said. An independent US media organization will assist and document the actions of both Russia and Ukraine during the process.
