Russian envoy calls OSCE trench through which Moscow heard in Europe

Dmitry Polyansky noted that the OSCE remains one of the few available channels for conveying Russia’s position

MOSCOW, October 24. /TASS/. The OSCE is a "forward outpost" that cannot be abandoned, since it is through it that Europeans hear Russia’s position, permanent representative to the organization Dmitry Polyansky said in an interview with News.ru.

"I think that if we were to withdraw from the OSCE, many of our enemies would be very pleased about it. We are like a thorn in their side in this organization," he said. "They have to listen to us and put up with the fact that others are also listening to us, that our statements are quoted in the media and the blogosphere.

"The OSCE remains one of the few available channels for conveying Russia’s position. After all, most other channels in Europe through which we can communicate our position have long been blocked; European citizens are, in fact, in an information blockade. Many people hear us from Vienna, and we do everything we can to help them hear us.

"In this sense, the OSCE is a kind of forward outpost, which, in my view, we must not surrender under any circumstances."
