West tried to ‘set fire’ to Russia’s collapse with pseudo-values in Ukraine, says Putin

After the break-up of the Soviet Union, Ukraine followed the way of direct and outright interference of Western countries into its internal affairs, Putin stressed

MOSCOW, November 4. /TASS/. The West recast the conscience of millions of people in Ukraine, imposing pseudo-values and trying to ‘set fire’ to Russia’s break-up, President Vladimir Putin said on Friday.

"Unfortunately, in Ukraine they managed to introduce such pseudo-values into the conscience of millions of people that this led to the situation when they created actually anti-Russia on that territory, sowing hatred, abusing the conscience of people and depriving them of their true history. All this was done to remold the conscience of millions. And they were very skillfully setting fire to our country’s disintegration," the head of state said at a meeting with historians and religious figures.

After the break-up of the Soviet Union, Ukraine followed the way of direct and outright interference of Western countries into its internal affairs, Putin stressed.

"In actual fact, they tried to do the same in Russia," the head of state pointed out.

The Russian leader said that before this meeting he had attended the exhibition: ‘Ukraine. Turning Points of Epochs’ that opened at the Manege Exhibition Hall in Moscow on November 4. As Putin pointed out, its content proves the accuracy and the relevance of the conclusion by Russian 19th century historian Nikolay Karamzin who said that the present was the consequence of the past and past events.

"One of the halls at the exhibition tells precisely about how some Western countries professionally carried out this activity. They worked for decades on that at the level of scientific centers: serious institutions with good financing," Putin said.
