MOSCOW, December 9. /TASS/. A total of 40 ceasefire violations by illegal armed groups were reported during the day in Syria, the Russian Center for reconciliation of the warring parties in Syria said in its regular daily bulletin posted on the Russian Defense Ministry’s official website on Friday.
In the province of Damascus, armed groups of the Jaysh al-Islam organization which affiliates itself with the opposition shelled from mortars and firearms the settlement of Jobar, Qasmiya and Harasta. In the province of Latakia, armed groups of Ahrar al-Sham shelled from mortars the settlements of Ikko, KInsibba and Ain al-Qantara. Armed groups of the Free Syrian Army shelled Aleppo’s district of Bayada from multiple missile launcher systems, as follows from the bulletin.
Armed groups of the terrorist organization Jabhat Fatah al-Sham (formerly known as Jabhat al-Nusra) shelled from multiple missile launcher systems, artillery systems, mortars, man-portable anti-tank grenade launchers and firearms Aleppo’s districts of 1070, Sheikh Said, Dahiya al-Assad, Binyamin (three times), Leramon, Jamaiya Faht, Mohamed Beik (twice), Ramusi (twice), Tariq Gasan, Tanbud, Amri, Ansar and al-Maqamat, the Al-Assad military academy (twice), an electricity substation Sheikh Said and an area near a gas plant.
In the province of Damascus, terrorists shelled the settlements of Hawsh Nasri (twice), Arbil (four times), Jobar (three times), Bala al-Qadima, and the Al-Wafidin camp. In the province of Daraa, terrorists shelled the settlement of Maner.
"No air strikes were delivered by the Russian air group and the Syrian air force at armed opposition group which have declared cessation of hostilities and informed the Russian or US reconciliation centers about their locations," the Russian center reported.
Humanitarian assistance
Five humanitarian operations were conducted during the day. Thus, about one tonne of humanitarian cargoes was delivered to the settlement of Maaraba in the province of Damascus; about one tonne was delivered to the Nadezhda (Hope) Russian compatriots community in the city of Latakia; about nine tonnes of cargoes were delivered to the Al-Mahalej temporary accommodation center in the province of Aleppo; about one tonne was delivered to Aleppo’s district of Hamanu-3; and about two tonnes ― to Aleppo’s district of Hai al-Ansari.
Hot meals and living essentials distribution outlets are open for civilians leaving Aleppo’s neighborhoods controlled by illegal armed groups, as follows from the bulletin.
Russian reconciliation center
The Russian Defense Ministry declared the establishment of the reconciliation center on February 23. It is headquartered at the Hmeymim air base, Latakia province. The center was set up in line with agreements reached by Russia and the United States to facilitate the negotiations between the Syrian government and opposition and to organize humanitarian deliveries.
