RIO DE JANEIRO, October 5. /TASS/. Senator Flavio Bolsonaro is leading with 49.58% of the vote in the first round of Brazil's presidential election and does not have the absolute majority anymore, according to data from the Superior Electoral Court.
64.81% of the electronic ballots have been processed thus far.
Incumbent President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva continues to close the gap and come in second with 42.25% of the votes cast. Over 79.3 mln votes have been counted for the time being.
The drop of Bolsonaro’s result below 50% confirms that the winner will not be determined in the first round of the election and the candidates will go for the second round, Folha de S. Paulo newspaper said.
