Heads of government of EAEU countries discuss trade, agriculture development

The Eurasian Intergovernmental Council greenlighted the forecast for the development of the agriculture sector

MINSK, October 2. /TASS/. The heads of government of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) countries discussed a number of significant issues in Minsk, including trade, the development of the agriculture sector, and the formation of common energy markets, Chairman of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Board Bakytzhan Sagintayev told reporters following the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council.

In particular, the Council greenlighted the forecast for the development of the agriculture sector. "The latest meeting of the heads of government of the EAEU countries is over. A number of significant issues were addressed, primarily trade, customs administration, transport infrastructure, industrial cooperation, the formation of common energy markets, and the development of the agro-industrial complex. The heads of government were briefed on the state of mutual trade within the EAEU. In 2025, it amounted to around $96 bln, representing a 74% increase compared to 2020," he said.

Sagintayev also noted the growth in mutual supplies of food products and agricultural raw materials, as well as an increase in exports of high-tech products. Moreover, work continues in the EAEU to develop cooperative ties between industrial complexes. "This is one of the key factors in fully realizing integration potential. Last year mutual trade in cooperative goods approached $36 bln. At the same time, the share of settlements in national currencies increased, reaching 95%. To compare, it stood at 72% in 2015, and 83% in 2022," he said.
