Next round of talks between US, Iran may take place in Rome on May 24-25 — WSJ

Iran has previously said that it is ready to discuss with the United States limiting the volume and level of uranium enrichmen, if sanctions are lifted

NEW YORK, May 19. /TASS/. The fifth round of US-Iranian talks on Tehran's nuclear program may take place in Rome from May 24 to May 25, the The Wall Street Journal's Lawrence Norman reported.

"Hearing next Iran talks set for this weekend in Rome," the journalist wrote on X.

The United States and Iran held their first round of talks on April 12 in Muscat. The second round took place on April 19 in Rome, the third and fourth on April 26 and May 11 again in the Omani capital. Oman is serving as a mediator in the talks. The Iranian delegation was led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, while the American delegation was led by US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff.

Iran has previously said that it is ready to discuss with the United States limiting the volume and level of uranium enrichment, if sanctions are lifted, but will never stop their nuclear program, since the right to the peaceful use of nuclear energy is guaranteed to all countries that have signed the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, which Tehran was one of the first to join.
