MOSCOW, February 12. /TASS/. The Polish Armed Forces claim that a Russian Su-24 aircraft violated the airspace of the country, the statement was published on the page of the Armed Forces Operational Command on the social network X.
According to the Polish side, the incident occurred on February 11 at 14:09 local time (16:09 Moscow time) in the eastern part of the Gulf of Gdansk over the country's territorial waters. It is claimed that the Su-24MR violated Polish airspace to a maximum depth of 6.5 km and remained there for 1 minute 12 seconds.
According to the command's statement, the Polish special services "were in contact with the Russian side," which "reported that the cause [of the incident] was the failure of the navigation system of the Su-24MR aircraft."
The Russian Defense Ministry regularly states that flights by Russian military aircraft are carried out in strict accordance with international airspace regulations.
