SOCHI, March 11. /ITAR-TASS/. Sochi 2014 volunteers were ready to share their unique experience with volunteers from South Korea, the host of 2018 Olympics, the head of the Sochi administration’s department for youth policy, Andrei Bezrodnov, told reporters on Tuesday.
“A delegation from Brazil, which will host the 2016 Olympic Games, has come around asking a lot of questions,” he said. “The Korean delegation that will organize the work of volunteers at the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics in 2018 has liked us a lot, appreciating our hospitality and politeness. They took much interest in our experience in organizing the activity of city volunteers, and if we get a request to share experience, we will be glad to help them,” Bezrodnov noted.
He said Russian volunteers had taken advantage of the London Olympics experience in their preparations for the Olympics and Paralympics in the Black Sea resort city of Sochi. “They sent us a lot of useful information, which was of great use,” he said.
The volunteer movement in Sochi was launched on May 14, 2011, when the Center for Volunteer Services was opened in Sochi, becoming the first and so far the only such organization in Russia.
Bezrodnov said volunteers had taken part in more than 300 events ahead of the Olympic Games, adding that “now no event in Sochi goes without them”. “We set up center’s units on the basis of all educational establishments of Sochi. Today this is a broad network, and we are planning to expand it, involving more and more people in volunteer services,” he said.
