MOSCOW, March 15. /TASS/. Syrian President Bashar Assad, who is in Moscow on a working visit, has laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier near the Kremlin wall, a TASS correspondent reported.
After laying a wreath of dark-red roses, framed by a ribbon in the colors of the country’s flag, Assad observed a minute of silence in memory of the fallen soldiers. The Special Military Exemplary Band of the Honor Guard accompanied the ceremony with music.
Syrian politicians and servicemen were also present at the event.
Assad arrived in Moscow on an official visit on Tuesday, accompanied by a large delegation of ministers. He was greeted in Moscow’s Vnukovo Airport by Special Presidential Envoy for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, Syria’s Ambassador to Russia Bashar Jaafari and Russian Ambassador to Syria Alexander Yefimov.
The Syrian president came to Moscow for talks with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. The leaders last met in September 2021, when the Syrian president also came to Moscow.
